Born in Berkeley, California - Art Evans co-starred as Morgan in the syndicated hit comedy "9 to 5". In movie theatres - you've seen him in the hilarious comedy, "Ruthless People" with Bette Midler and Danny Devito, and the acclaimed film as Arturo - starring with Richard Pryor in "Jo Jo Dancer, Your Life is Calling". Art is also featured in the pop video of the Stevie Wonder hit "Go Home" and Ice Cube's video "Natural Born Killer".
Who could ever forget Art Evans' powerful portrayal of "Pvt. Wilkie" in Columbia Pictures "Academy Award" nominated film - "A Soldier's Story".
He has portrayed prominent roles in numerous movies of the week. You may also remember him as "Dr. Martin Luther King's brother, A.D. King" in the NBC Mini Series production for the television of "King". Art also appeared in the Columbia Pictures thriller, "Fright Night", with Roddy McDowall. Most recently "Metro" with Eddie Murphy. He also played in "Trespass" with Bill Paxton, Ice-T and Ice Cube, "Skool Daze" with Fishburne and Spike Lee, "Die Hard 2" with Bruce Willis and John Amos, "Story of Us" with Michelle Pfeiffer, "Always Outnumbered" with Fishburne, Bill Cobbs and Natalie Cole.
Art has lived and worked among artists and entertainers around the world. A multi-talented artist who plays flamingo guitar, blues harmonica and drums. While living in New York City, Art has performed in numerous plays on and off Broadway. Notably - on Broadway. Art originated the role of "David" in James Baldwin's - "The Amen Corner" at the "Ethel Barrymore Theatre".
In Los Angeles, Art was a resident student at "The Theatre of Being" with Frank Silvera, his mentor, which he is now the artistic director of "The New Frank Silvera Theatre of Being - Actors' Workshop".
In addition to acting, Art's experience covers a broad spectrum. He's written two plays and directed many, including the "N.A.A.C.P Image Award - Winning Play" of "Psyche Games" starring Marla Gibbs.
He's published a book of poetry and written commercial music for products such as "Alka-Selzer and Schaefer Beer". He has also composed and performed music for "Cat On a Hot Tin Roof" at Mark Forum Theatre in Los Angeles.
Art Evans is well known as an actor starring in a long list of motion pictures, television series, and state productions. He has recently co-starred with Eddie Murphy in the Touchstone Pictures hit action file, "Metro". His other feature film credits include, "Die Hard 2" with Bruce Willis, "Soldier Story" and "The Mighty Quinn" with Denzel Washington, Spike Lee's "School Daze", along with "Tales from the Hood", "CB-4", "Ruthless People, and upcoming "Socrates" with Laurence Fishburne. His work in television consists of a variety of episodic dramas and comedies including "Walker, Texas Ranger", "Dream On", "Family Matters", "Midnight Caller", "Doogie Howser, MD", and "In the Heat of the Night". He also had a recurring role on the long running sitcom, "A Different World" and is enjoying a recurring role on the hit sitcom "Mad About You". In addition, he has directed productions of "Psyche Games", "Sleep No More" and "Sezwe Bonzi is Dead". Art also directed "The Dreamers" at the Englewood Playhouse.
