BILL COBBS
Bill Cobbs was born and raised in Cleveland, where his mother was a cleaning lady and his father was a construction worker. As an amateur actor in the city's Karamu House Theater, he starred in the Ossie Davis play "Purlie Victorious". Cobbs was an Air Force radar technician for eight years; he also worked in office products at IBM and sold cars in Cleveland. In 1970, at the age of 36, he left for New York to seek work as an actor. There he turned down a job in the NBC sales department in order to have time for auditions. He supported himself by driving a cab, repairing office equipment, selling toys, and performing odd jobs.
As an actor, Bill has worked with such notable stars as Sylvester Stallone, Wesley Snipes and Sandra Bullock in "Demolition Man", Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner in "The Body Gaurd", Wesley Snipes in "New Jack City" , Eddie Murphy in "Trading Places", Lawrence Fishburne, Isaih Washington, Natalie Cole and Bill Nunn in "Always Outnumbered", Harrison Ford and Charles Dutton in "Random Hearts", Cher and Dennis Quaid in "Suspect", Alec Baldwin, Whoopi Goldberg and James Woods in "The Ghost of Mississippi", Sam Waterston and Regina Taylor in "I'll Fly Away", Paul Newman, John Turturro and Tom Cruise in "The Color of Money", Armand Assante in "Fatal Instinct", Mekhi Phifer, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Freddie Prinze, Jr and Brandy in "I Still Know What you Did Last Summer", Sinbad, Timothy Busfield in "First Kid", Tim Robbins, Paul Newman and Jennifer Jason Leigh in "The Hudsucker Proxy", Ving Rhames and Jeremy Roberts in The People Under the Stairs", Forest Whitaker in "Bird", Richard Gere, Gregory Hines, and Vanette McKee in "The Cotton Club", and a host of others. His television appearances are, also, exceptionally notable. He recently starred in the televison series entitled; "The Others" as Elmer Greentree. He maintained a recurring role on the hit series; "I'll fly away" with Sam Waterston, "Philly", "Six Feet Under", "The Practice", "The Sapranos", "For Your Love", "The Wayan's Brothers" "Touched by an Angel"s28 and many more.
