Actor Garrett Morris

Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, February 1, 1937, Garrett Morris has been a trailblazer in the entertainment industry. His warm smile and quick wit have garnered him the reputation of comedian extraordinaire. According to Garrett, it was his Grandfather, a Baptist minister, who first cast faith in his ability as an entertainer. At church, Grandfather would stand lil’ Garrett high atop a table or chair to do his thing. It was the beginning of something special. On February 1, 1994, the world almost lost this great talent. Garrett was shot in the chest & arm by would-be robbers. Many fans held their breathe as Garrett stared the incredible odds of survival in the face...but in true Garrett Morris fashion, when the dice stopped rolling, Garrett Morris walked away a winner. Thus, he continues to make magnificent contributions to the world of entertainment. His filmography is quite extensive. I’ll just mention a fraction of his works here. Many of you know him from his outstanding work as an original cast member of "Saturday Night Live". Some of his most recent work includes: “How High” with Redman, Method Man & Obba Babatunde’, “Jackpot” with Daryl Hanna, “Coneheads” with Dan Aykroyd and Sinbad. Some of his classic works include: “Car Wash” with Richard Pryor, Antonio Fargas and George Carlin, “Cooley High” with Glynn Turman and Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs. His recent work in television includes: “The Hughleys”, “Justice League”, "City of Angels", "Boston Common", "The   Ex-Files",  "Martin" and "The Wayans Bros."
