KAREN MALINA WHITE


Karen Malina White was born and raised in Philadelphia where received her first training from the High School for Creative and Performing Arts. She would then go on to further her studies at Howard University earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree with cum Laude honors. During her senior year at Howard, she became Miss Howard University and landed her first professional job as an actor. After graduation, Karen's career took off with the role of Kaneesha Carter in the hit film Lean On Me. Karen would then go on to land major roles on The Cosby Show, A Different World, Fresh Prince of Bel Air, My So Called Life, Chicago Hope, Malcolm and Eddie, Strong Medicine, Jeremiah...to name a few. Karen is also known for her work in Tim Reid's film Once Upon A Time When We Were Colored, the Los Angeles premiere of Crumbs from the Table of Joy, which garnered her an NAACP Theatre Award for Best Supporting Actress and her outstanding work as Rosa in pearl Cleage's Chain. Listen for Karen each week as the voice of Dijonay on The Proud Family, the first all Black animated series from Disney. Currently, Karen is now on stage in Los Angeles as Tanya in Richard Wesley's The Talented Tenth.
