LAWRENCE-HILTON JACOBS
Lawrence-Hilton Jacobs' skill, diversity, charisma, and instinctive poise is the axiom to his exciting talent. He doesn't just play a "role", he gets under the skin of a "part" with a passionate vengeance. Lawrence was born in New York City on September 4, 1953, to West Indians Hilton and Clothilda Jacobs. He is the middle child of nine. They are a loving, strong-bonded family. Lawrence is a successful working actor since the summer of '69. He has worked in every aspect of show business from movie extra to day player, prop man, set builder, graphic artist, method acting studies, street, improvisational, and children's theatre.
"Larry", graduated from the prestigious High School of Art & Design in '71 and studied acting with the world famous "NEGRO ENSEMBLE COMPANY" and the "AL FANN THEATRICAL ENSEMBLE". Also, he taught acting at "THE ADAM WADE WORKSHOP". Larry gained praise and critical acclaim for his magnetic tour-de-force portrayal as Joseph Jackson in ABC-TV's highly-rated mini-series "THE JACKSONS: AN AMERICAN DREAM". In the mid-70's, Larry was one of the stars on the ABC-TV hit comedy series, "WELCOME BACK, KOTTER". His numerous films include starring roles in "CLAUDINE", "COOLEY HIGH", "YOUNGBLOOD", "THE ANNIHILATORS", "L.A. HEAT", "L.A. VICE", "CHANGE", and "PARAMEDICS". His multi-TV credits are: THE COMEDY COMPANY - ROOTS - FOR THE LOVE OF IT - FAME - SIMON & SIMON - HILL STREET BLUES - THE REDD FOXX SHOW...and so on. In '75, Larry entered into the professional world of music. He is an accomplished keyboardist/singer. He's performed on many albums. RICK JAMES' STREETSONGS, JOHNNY GILL, THE TEMPTATIONS, and THE SYLVERS to name a few. He's written/produced themes for TV shows and scored for motion pictures. SOLO ALBUMS: "LAWRENCE-HILTON JACOBS (DEBUT)" - "ALL THE WAY...LOVE", and "STREETBEAT".
In '79, he played the lead on B'way in the hit musical farces "I LOVE MY WIFE" as well as the award winning Los Angeles productions: "DEADWOOD DICK/LEGEND OF THE WEST" in '81 - "DELIRIOUS" in '85 and "CEREMONIES IN DARK OLD MEN" in '89. In '83 he won the best actor NAACP Image Award for his performance as "Frankie" in Richard Wesley's "THE MIGHTY GENTS". Larry made his "directorial debut" in 1989 with "ANGELS OF THE CITY" and associate produced "L.A. HEAT" in '88. He's written or co-written the feature films: L.A. HEAT, L.A. VICE, CHANGE, ANGELS OF THE CITY, LUCKY VALENTINE, THE GUARDIAN, CRIMINALSI, LENNY & REBECCA, IT TAKES A THIEF, TORRID DAYDREAMER, SUZA, and AN ANGEL ON ABBY STREET. His latest feature film "QUIET FIRE" is currently in wide video release from P.M. Entertainment. It marks his second venture as director/star/writer. His newest starring endeavor is the suspense thriller "INDECENT BEHAVIOR". He shines as a tough-as-nails cop hot on the trail of a serial sex-crimes killer. He also appears on: POINTMAN, DIAGNOSIS: MURDER, TRACEY TAKES ON..., MOESHA, L.A. DOCTORS, MARTIN, THE PARENTHOOD, THE WAYANS BROS. With many "special guest" leads on TV and music videos. Recently, he directed an episode of the popular new cop drama "L.A. HEAT - THE SERIES", which currently runs on the TNT Network, and he stars in Hallmark Hall of Fame's "TIDALWAVE: NO ESCAPE", and the '99 national tour of the hit gospel musical play "MR. RIGHT NOW!".
